The Live4Lane Advocacy Scholarship
Empowering the Next Generation of Mental Health Advocates
The Live4Lane scholarship in honor of Lane Michael Burrows is awarded annually to Dominion High School students. The scholarships contributes to selected students’ future education and involvement in the field of mental health.
The Live4Lane scholarship aims to support students who demonstrate an interest in raising awareness around mental health. These students embody the core value of The Live4Lane Foundation: mental health awareness through education. Students with a passion for mental health awareness or students who wish to pursue further studies in mental health are invited to apply.

The Live4Lane Scholarship is here to support Dominion High School (Sterling, VA) seniors like YOU who are dedicated to breaking stigmas, promoting awareness, and advocating for mental health.

All About the Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
Be a Dominion High School (Sterling, VA) senior graduating in the class of 2026;
Have a demonstrated interest in mental health advocacy; and
Be planning to attend college, university, or trade school.

The application comprises two sections to showcase your passion, creativity, and dedication to mental health advocacy.
Section 1: Your Story & Advocacy
Please answer all three questions below. Each response should be no more than 2,000 characters.
1. What Drives You?
What experiences, people, or moments inspired you to care about mental health? Why is this cause important to you, and how has it influenced your actions or choices?2. What You’ve Done — and What’s Next?
How have you supported mental health awareness or well-being in your school or community? This may include volunteer work, service hours, leadership roles, events, peer support, or behind-the-scenes efforts.
Describe what you did, who you helped, and the impact of your actions.
How would this scholarship help you continue or expand this work?If applicable: Briefly describe any volunteer or service work related to mental health (organization, role, time commitment).
3. Your Vision for the Future?
What changes or improvements would you like to see in mental health support for teens? How do you plan to stay involved in mental health advocacy after high school?Section 2: Mental Health Advocacy Project
Create a Resource for Teens
Design an original resource that helps middle or high school students better understand mental health, reduce stigma, or encourage support and help-seeking.Your resource should be:
Created by you
Easy for teens to understand and relate to
Focused on a real mental health need (stress, anxiety, depression, peer support, self-care, asking for help, etc.)
Intended to make a positive impact
Possible formats include:
Poster, flyer, or resource card
Social media or awareness campaign
Peer discussion guide or workshop outline
Short video or digital resource

Complete the online application form (link here) in full and submit no later than February 28, 2026.

Each scholarship is $3,600 and up to three will be awarded in 2026.

The scholarship winner(s) will be notified by May 1, 2026 with a public ceremony on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 as well as being recognized at the Dominion High School Senior Awards Ceremony on June 4, 2026.
